Cindy Vuu | Now Is the Time to Become a More Compassionate Leader

“If you want to be happy in this lifetime, make sure your motivation is to benefit all sentient beings.” — His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Cindy Vuu, CEO of Biti’s

Few people embody positive, people-first leadership like Cindy Vuu, the CEO of Biti’s. With over 8,600 employees, they are the largest footwear brand in Vietnam. Cindy is not only a shoe fanatic. She’s also a firm believer that companies with happier team members are more successful culturally and financially.

Cindy built the incredible work culture at Biti’s by integrating daily mindfulness practices and introducing a company-wide version of Gross National Happiness (GNH)—a system first introduced by Bhutan to monitor the wellbeing of its citizens.

In this episode of Leading with Genuine Care, Cindy and I chat about everything from her advice on being a more compassionate business leader, how she supports thousands of employees’ happiness, her personal interactions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and SO much more.

More About Cindy Vuu
Biti’s, a national heritage footwear brand in Vietnam. The brand is so well-known there that nearly all Vietnamese have likely worn Biti’s shoes at some point in their lives.

Cindy also is known for driving the successful comeback of Biti’s amid fierce foreign brand competition. Much of this comeback is attributed to the marketing campaign of the Biti’s Hunter line in 2017. By collaborating with massive Vietnamese musical artist Son Tung and promoting a message seeped in mindfulness and connection, the initiative transformed the brand back up to its current top spot as Vietnam’s #1 footwear company.
