When Were You Last Truly Still?
Summer is nearing an end, and for many of us, things begin to speed up again.
Summer can be a wonderful time to pause, breathe, enjoy the weather, spend more time outside in nature, and connect with family and friends. There can be a natural slowing down. As we round out the remaining months of the year, that often changes. We begin to speed up, push a little harder, and focus on ending the year strong.
There are goals to hit and things we want to accomplish. The Do Nothing Retreat lands almost right in the middle of all of this. It’s an opportunity to step away, come up the mountain to Drala Mountain Center, and spend five days in silence.
When were you last truly still?
Summer may give us an opportunity to slow down, but slowing down and being still are different. In stillness, we cultivate greater awareness. Thoughts. Feelings. Emotions. Maybe things we’ve been holding onto without even realizing it. Stillness gives us an opportunity to ground ourselves and come back home to ourselves, to paraphrase Thich Nhat Hanh. The retreat is October 4 through 8. We’ll spend our time mindfully in silence, sitting, walking, hiking, eating, and simply being.
One of the key things to remember about the Do Nothing Retreat is that this is a time to be selfish. You’ll be supported in a safe and caring environment where, for five days, you can put your attention on yourself. And in doing so, you may return more centered, more focused, and more clear. The energy you bring home will be felt by everyone you come into contact with.
If something in you feels pinged, I invite you to join us.
